Defect-rich ZrO2 anchored Pd nanoparticles for selective hydrodeoxygenation of bio-models at room temperature

Jingyun Jiang et al.

Summary: The selective hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of bio-models using defect-rich ZrO2 anchored Pd nanoparticles was investigated in this study. It was found that the addition of template agent CTAB can regulate the oxygen vacancies of Pd/ZrO2(x) catalysts, improving their performance. The Pd/ZrO2(0.5) catalyst with the highest oxygen defect content exhibited excellent catalytic activity towards vanillin HDO at 25 degrees C.

Enhancing Activity of Ni2P-Based Catalysts by a Yolk-Shell Structure and Transition Metal-Doping for Catalytic Transfer Hydrogenation of Vanillin

Guotai Li et al.

Summary: Catalytic transfer hydrogenation (CTH) is a promising technology for upgrading biomass, and in this study, three Ni2P-based catalysts were prepared and tested for the CTH of vanillin in an ethanol environment. The Ni2P@YSS catalyst showed the highest conversion and selectivity among the catalysts, attributed to its high specific surface area, acidic site density, and strong metal-support interactions. Introducing transition metals (Zr and La) further enhanced the catalytic performance of the Ni2P@YSS catalyst.

Highly Dispersed Pd on Zeolite/Carbon Nanocomposites for Selective Hydrodeoxygenation of Biomass-Derived Molecules under Mild Conditions

Rui Zong et al.

Summary: The Pd/CFR@HZSM-5 catalysts exhibit excellent catalytic activity for the selective HDO of biomass-derived molecules, thanks to their unique high-dispersion Pd structure and abundant surface defects. Additionally, the acidic sites in the composite carrier catalyst replace the need for acidic additives in previous catalytic systems. The optimal Pd/CFR@HZSM-5(2:1) catalysts maintain good performance even after five uses and can be applied to various biomass HDO models under mild conditions.
