Synergy of macro-meso bimodal pore and Ni-Co alloy for enhanced stability in dry reforming of methane

Linghui Lyu et al.

Summary: In this study, a bimodal pore structure Ni-Co catalyst was prepared and applied for dry reforming of methane (DRM). The NC0.5-M100-MA catalyst exhibited the best catalytic performance at 700 degrees Celsius, with improved stability due to the synergistic effect of Ni-Co alloy and macro-meso bimodal pore structure.

Effect of Mn-doped CaO on NO removal by CO in carbonation of calcium looping for CO2 capture in a fluidized bed reactor

Wan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, Mn-doped CaO was found to significantly improve the efficiency of CO for NO removal and CO2 capture in the calcium looping process. The presence of Mn enhanced the catalytic effect of CaO, leading to higher NO removal efficiency and CO2 capture capacity. The results suggest that Mn-doped CaO could be a promising material for achieving simultaneous NO removal and CO2 capture in the carbonation stage of the process.

Engineering of surface properties of Ni-CeZrAl catalysts for dry reforming of methane

Junjie Wen et al.

Summary: Ni-CeZrAl catalyst prepared by co-precipitation method demonstrated high performance in dry reforming of methane, with the highest methane conversion reaching 38.1%. The superior catalytic behavior was attributed to the high dispersion of surface Ni-0 active phase, abundant oxygen vacancies, and basic sites. In contrast, Ni-CeAl and Ni-CeZr showed inferior catalytic performance due to weak interaction and fewer active sites.

The current status of high temperature electrochemistry-based CO2 transport membranes and reactors for direct CO2 capture and conversion

Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: In recent years, the concept of direct CO2 capture and conversion has attracted significant interest due to its potential to address global warming, fossil fuel depletion, and carbon neutral ecosystem. While current CO2 capture technologies are energy intensive and costly, CO2 conversion technologies are still in their early stages with technical challenges to overcome. The emerging high-temperature electrochemical CO2 transport membranes offer a promising approach for capturing and converting CO2 in a single catalytic reactor, with potential for future development.

IR spectroscopic insights into the coking-resistance effect of potassium on nickel-based catalyst during dry reforming of methane

Lola Azancot et al.

Summary: This study provides a new approach on the anticoking nature of a K-promoted Ni catalyst by revealing the mechanism behind it, showing the Ni-K interfacial sites favor carbonaceous deposits gasification and strongly Mg-O-K basic sites lead to the formation of carbonate intermediates. These results offer a fundamental understanding of the relevant anticoking effect of potassium on Ni-based catalysts.

Bifunctional Ni-Ca based material for integrated CO2 capture and conversion via calcium-looping dry reforming

Jiawei Hu et al.

Summary: The research focuses on the development of a bifunctional Ni-Ca based material to enable isothermal capture and release of CO2, as well as in-situ conversion of CH4 into syngas in a single reactor. The addition of CeO2 helps combat inactive carbon accumulation and activate CO2 and CH4, leading to enhanced syngas production during cyclic CaLDRM. The bifunctional material successfully converts over 40% of CH4 and CO2 under thermodynamically unfavorable conditions.

Steam-promoted Methane-CO2 reforming by NiPdCeOx@SiO2 nanoparticle clusters for syngas production

Yu-Shih Lin et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a facile aerosol-based method to prepare hybrid nanostructures for catalyzing steam-promoted CO2 reforming with methane. The resulting NiPdOx-CeO2 nanoparticles deposited on SiO2 nanoparticle clusters exhibit superior catalytic performance at low temperatures, with high turnover frequency, tunable H2/CO ratio, and long-term operation stability. Incorporating SiO2 nanoparticle clusters as support material helps to enhance the dispersion of active metals and suppress metal sintering.
