Chitosan oligosaccharide/alginate nanoparticles as an effective carrier for astaxanthin with improving stability, in vitro oral bioaccessibility, and bioavailability

Feuangthit Niyamissara Sorasitthiyanukarn et al.

Summary: In this study, ATX-loaded chitosan oligosaccharide/alginate nanoparticles (ATX-COANPs) were successfully fabricated with optimized conditions. These nanoparticles exhibited good stability and sustained release characteristics under various conditions. Encapsulation within COANPs led to increased in vitro bioaccessibility, bioavailability, and antioxidant activity of ATX, suggesting potential applications in developing an effective oral delivery system for nutraceuticals or functional foods.

Light-driven enzymatic nanosystem for highly selective production of formic acid from CO2

Senshen Yu et al.

Summary: A light-driven enzymatic nanosystem was developed for the selective production of formic acid from CO2, combining graphitic carbon nitride with natural enzyme catalysts. The system's efficiency is enhanced by encapsulation in a porous metal-organic framework, ensuring high enzyme activity and shortening the distance between enzymes to improve reaction efficiency.

Summary: The immobilization of CA is crucial in enhancing enzyme stability and utilization, but the choice of immobilization methods and conditions must be carefully considered to prevent a decrease in CA activity and impact on CO2 conversion. Immobilized CA has promising applications in the environmental sector, particularly in CO2 mineralization and multienzyme cascade catalysis.

Novel γ-cyclodextrin-metal-organic frameworks for encapsulation of curcumin with improved loading capacity, physicochemical stability and controlled release properties

Yulu Chen et al.

Summary: A safe and biodegradable gamma-cyclodextrin-metal-organic-frameworks (gamma-CD-MOFs) was successfully synthesized and tested for curcumin encapsulation stability and release performance. Results show that gamma-CD-MOFs can be regarded as promising carriers for the delivery of curcumin or other hydrophobic nutraceuticals.

Core-shell magnetic ZIF-8@Fe3O4-carbonic anhydrase biocatalyst for promoting CO2 absorption into MDEA solution

Qin Ying et al.

Summary: A core-shell magnetic ZIF-8@Fe3O4-carbonic anhydrase composite was developed to enhance CO2 absorption into tertiary amine, showing a high relative activity. Larger particle size of ZIF-8@Fe3O4 was beneficial for activity but adverse for loading. The developed composite exhibited remarkable magnetic response for convenient recycling.

Barnase encapsulation into submicron porous CaCO3 particles: studies of loading and enzyme activity

Alexey M. Yashchenok et al.

Summary: The study focuses on immobilizing bacterial ribonuclease barnase into submicron porous calcium carbonate particles, exploring different encapsulation methods and their effects. The use of negatively charged dextran sulfate and ribonucleic acid from yeast significantly increases the loading capacity of the enzyme. Enzyme activity in the particles is dependent on the loading capacity and the transformation of metastable vaterite to stable calcite.
