Discovery of Kalmane Diterpenoids as Potent Analgesics from the Flowers of Rhododendron dauricum

Yuanyuan Feng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the phytochemical constituents of Rhododendron dauricum L. flowers, leading to the identification of eight kalmane diterpenoids, including four new ones. All isolated compounds showed significant analgesic effects, with rhodokalmanol C and kalmanol exhibiting even stronger analgesic activity than morphine.

Biomimetic Total Synthesis of the Rubiginosin Meroterpenoids

Laura Burchill et al.

Summary: Total synthesis of the Rhododendron meroterpenoids rubiginosins A and G, which possess unusual 6-6-6-4 ring systems, has been achieved using a bioinspired cascade approach. Stepwise synthesis of these natural products, and the related 6-6-5-4 meroterpenoids fastinoid B and rhodonoid B, from naturally occurring chromene precursors is also reported.

Farrerol Induces Cancer Cell Death via ERK Activation in SKOV3 Cells and Attenuates TNF-α-Mediated Lipolysis

Jongbeom Chae et al.

Summary: The study found that Farrerol can inhibit the survival of SKOV3 cells and induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Additionally, Farrerol can induce cell apoptosis through the ERK/MAPK pathway. Moreover, Farrerol can attenuate TNF-alpha-induced lipolysis and increase adipogenic differentiation in 3T3-L1 cells.
