Pharmacists' experience of a diabetes risk-assessment service and analytical quality control in community pharmacies - A focus-group study

Aslaug Johanne Risoy et al.

Summary: Norwegian pharmacists emphasized the importance of using their knowledge and skills to promote good health, considering offering a diabetes risk-assessment service as compatible with their role. Communication skills were evaluated as good, but communicating the service was seen as a challenge, particularly in recruiting participants and ensuring clear and professional communication. Inclusion of the whole pharmacy staff was seen as an important success factor for implementing a risk-assessment service, while analytical quality control was perceived as a natural part of their job.

Geographical accessibility of medicines: a systematic literature review of pharmacy mapping

Cindrel Tharumia Jagadeesan et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the geographical accessibility of pharmacies by analyzing their distribution using spatial analytical methods. Different studies reported disparities in pharmacy density, distance to pharmacies, and accessibility based on population income and rural/urban location. Geographical accessibility is a key dimension of access to medicines that should be complemented by equity analysis and population perception.
