Exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells promote remyelination and reduce neuroinflammation in the demyelinating central nervous system

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: Injury to OLs results in demyelination, which is often seen in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. MSC-Exo treatment shows promising therapeutic effects on enhancing remyelination in both experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and cuprizone (CPZ) mouse models of demyelination. Exosomes harvested from MSCs may promote remyelination by acting directly on OPCs and indirectly on microglia, providing a potential treatment for demyelinating and neurodegenerative disorders in the CNS.

Curcumin suppress inflammatory response in traumatic brain injury via p38/MAPK signaling pathway

Guoqiang Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the protective effect of curcumin on traumatic brain injury (TBI) and its molecular mechanisms involving the p38/MAPK signaling pathway. Curcumin ameliorates secondary brain injury and inflammation associated with TBI, indicating its potential as a therapeutic approach for TBI-related inflammation.

Traumatic Brain Injury: Mechanistic Insight on Pathophysiology and Potential Therapeutic Targets

Komal Thapa et al.

Summary: Traumatic brain injury leads to brain damage through primary and secondary injury mechanisms, causing inflammatory activity, brain edema, and disruption of brain functions. Despite an in-depth understanding of the pathophysiology of TBI, further research is needed to assess the underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic agents.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes: Applications in Regenerative Medicine

Mangesh D. Hade et al.

Summary: Exosomes are extracellular vesicles secreted by almost all cell types to aid in various cellular functions, including intercellular communication and immune signaling. They carry a multitude of signaling moieties, making them potential candidates for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The review highlights the emerging roles and potential applications of exosomes in regenerative medicine, particularly in brain injuries, cardiovascular disease, and COVID-19.
