Effect of the Aspect Ratio and Tilt Angle on the Free Convection Heat Transfer Coefficient Inside Al2O3-Water-Filled Square Cuboid Enclosures

Redhwan Almuzaiqer et al.

Summary: This experimental study investigates the natural convection heat transfer inside shallow square cuboid enclosures filled with aluminum oxide-water nanofluid. The study examines the effects of different volume concentrations, aspect ratios, and inclination angles on the heat transfer behavior. The results show that there can be a significant enhancement in heat transfer for certain combinations of conditions, especially in enclosures with large aspect ratios. However, no noticeable improvement in heat transfer was observed in enclosures with small aspect ratios. The inclination angle only has a significant influence on natural convection in enclosures with large aspect ratios.

Tilt Angle's Effects on Free Convection Heat Transfer Coefficient inside a Water-Filled Rectangular Parallelepiped Enclosure

Redhwan Almuzaiqer et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the effect of tilt angle on free convection heat transfer. The results showed that the free convection heat transfer strongly depended on the tilt angle and the modified Rayleigh numbers. The Nusselt number reached a maximum at 60° for a fixed modified Rayleigh number. An empirical correlation between the modified Rayleigh numbers and Nusselt numbers was obtained for each tilt angle. Moreover, two overall general correlations were obtained to cover the four tilt angles and the modified Rayleigh numbers, which can be useful for engineering applications.

Nanodiamond Colloids heat transfer behavior in electronics thermal management - an experimental study

Farzin Mashali et al.

Summary: This study reports the heat transfer data obtained from experimenting with a novel functionalized nanodiamond (fND) colloid, showing the remarkable effect of low-concentrated fND additives on enhancing the heat-transfer coefficient of deionized water. The experimental results demonstrate up to a 70% enhancement in the heat transfer coefficient compared to the base fluid at the same pumping power using a 0.20 wt.% fND. The nanodiamond colloid remains stable without sedimentation after being stored for over two years after synthesis.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of particle mass ratios on the thermal properties of hybrid nanofluids, revealing that temperature increase significantly reduces the viscosity of hybrid nanofluids while the particle mass ratio positively impacts the electrical conductivity. Additionally, new correlations were proposed to accurately estimate the viscosity and electrical conductivity of the hybrid nanofluids.

Modelling of heat transfer coefficients during condensation inside an enhanced inclined tube

D. R. E. Ewim et al.

Summary: The inclination angle significantly affects flow patterns and thermal performance. The maximum heat transfer coefficients were found at tube inclinations between -15 and -5 degrees (downward flows). An artificial neural network (ANN) model was proposed to predict heat transfer coefficients during condensation inside the enhanced inclined tube, showing ANN's usefulness in predicting heat transfer coefficients based on vapor quality, mass velocity, and inclination angle.

Experimental Investigation on Stability, Viscosity, and Electrical Conductivity of Water-Based Hybrid Nanofluid of MWCNT-Fe2O3

Solomon O. Giwa et al.

Summary: This study experimentally determined the viscosity and electrical conductivity of MWCNT-Fe2O3 nanofluids based on DIW, and found that hybrid nanofluids have superior performance compared to conventional fluids. High volume concentrations significantly increased the electrical conductivity and viscosity of the hybrid nanofluids, while also exhibiting high stability. The lower viscosity of the hybrid nanofluid compared to mono-particle nanofluids of Fe2O3/water is advantageous for engineering applications as it reduces pumping power.
