Study of the physicochemical interactions of nanoformulations based on polyoxazolines with a skin surface model

L. Simon et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the behavior of polyoxazolines based mixed micelles and lipid nanocapsules on a nonbiological human skin surface model, assessing their potential for topical delivery. The research found that both formulations showed good affinity with the skin surface and the residual film left on the surface modified the skin model physicochemical properties, leading to a better interaction with hydrophilic and polar compounds. The impact of each excipient on the surface physicochemical properties further explained the resulting formulation behavior on the skin surface model, highlighting the crucial role of the main component.

Profiling skin penetration using PEGylated emulsifiers as penetration enhancers via confocal Raman spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy

Yali Liu et al.

Summary: This study focused on the role of PEG ethers emulsifiers in dermal drug delivery systems, finding that they have the ability to enhance drug penetration, especially PEG-20 cetyl ether showing a significant effect. The study suggests that the enhanced penetration may be linked to the interruption of intercellular lipids by the PEGylated emulsifiers. Further comparison highlighted the benefits of using CRS in skin penetration analysis.
