Kinetic Resolution of Neopentylic Secondary Alcohols by Cu-H-Catalyzed Enantioselective Silylation with Hydrosilanes

Zaneta Papadopulu et al.

Summary: A method for the nonenzymatic kinetic resolution of sterically congested alcohols with a quaternary carbon atom in the beta-position is reported, using the catalyst system CuCl/NaOtBu/(R,R)-Ph-BPE together with a 3,5-xylyl-substituted tertiary hydrosilane to achieve enantioselective silylation of the hydroxy group. Several alcohols are obtained with good to excellent selectivity factors, and there are currently no other known straightforward methods to access these motifs.

Lipase Immobilized on MCFs as Biocatalysts for Kinetic and Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of sec-Alcohols

Dominika Stradomska et al.

Summary: In the study, it was found that CALB supported on MCFs grafted with methyl groups is a promising biocatalyst and isopropenyl acetate is a preferable acylation agent. Additionally, Ru complexes activated by K3PO4 or t-BuOK were effective catalysts for the racemization reaction, leading to 96% conversion and 98% enantiomeric excess of (R)-1-phenylethyl acetate in 8 hours using K3PO4 activator.

Iridium-Catalyzed Enantioselective and Diastereoselective Hydrogenation of Racemic β′-Keto-β-Amino Esters via Dynamic Kinetic Resolution

Fei Ling et al.

Summary: An iridium/f-diaphos catalytic system for the enantioselective hydrogenation of alpha-substituted beta-ketoesters via dynamic kinetic resolution was reported. The desired anti beta'-hydroxy-beta-amino esters were obtained in moderate to good yields with high enantioselectivity and diastereoselectivity. This protocol is tolerant to various functional groups and can be easily conducted on gram scale with lower catalyst loading.

Nickel-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation for Kinetic Resolution of [2.2]Paracyclophane-Derived Cyclic N-Sulfonylimines

Yang Zhao et al.

Summary: Nickel-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation was successfully utilized for the kinetic resolution of cyclic N-sulfonylimines derived from [2.2]paracyclophane. High selectivity factors were observed, leading to good yields and high levels of enantiopurity in the recovered materials and hydrogenation products, which are valuable synthetic intermediates for planar chiral [2.2]paracyclophane-based compounds.

Progress on the Stereoselective Synthesis of Chiral Molecules Based on Metal-Catalyzed Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of Alcohols with Lipases

Raffaella Ferraccioli

Summary: Metal/lipase-combo catalyzed dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) is a general and practical process to obtain enantiopure esters R with quantitative conversion. The use of various metal catalysts has expanded the substrate scope, including challenging compounds, and integration into cascade reactions can lead to linear/cyclic chiral molecules with high ee values.

Kinetic resolution of sulfur-stereogenic sulfoximines by Pd(ii)-MPAA catalyzed C-H arylation and olefination

Kallol Mukherjee et al.

Summary: A direct Pd(ii)-catalyzed kinetic resolution of heteroaryl-enabled sulfoximines through an ortho-C-H alkenylation/arylation of arenes has been developed, providing access to a wide range of enantiomerically enriched unreacted aryl-pyridyl-sulfoximine precursors and C(aryl)-H alkenylation/arylation products in good yields with high enantioselectivity. The coordination of the directing group, ligand effect, geometry constraints, and the transient six-membered concerted-metalation-deprotonation species dictate the stereoselectivity, which is validated by DFT studies.
