The prognostic value of end-of-treatment FDG-PET/CT in diffuse large B cell lymphoma: comparison of visual Deauville criteria and a lesion-to-liver SUVmax ratio-based evaluation system

Ying-He Li et al.

Summary: The optimal cutoff of LLR may be superior to Deauville criteria in identifying low-risk DLBCL patients with negative EoT-PET after the first-line immunochemotherapy and sparing them the cost and toxicity of additional treatment. Patients with DS 4 displayed significantly longer PFS and OS compared with patients with DS 5, while their PFS was shorter but OS was similar to patients with DS 1-3. LLR-based criterion showed higher specificity, positive predictive value, and accuracy in predicting disease progression and death events.

18F-FDG PET baseline radiomics features improve the prediction of treatment outcome in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

Jakoba J. Eertink et al.

Summary: The study found that combining baseline radiomics with currently used clinical predictors in DLBCL patients can more accurately identify high-risk patients. Adding radiomics features to clinical predictors significantly improves positive predictive value, leading to a more accurate selection of high-risk patients compared to using the IPI model alone.

Automated Segmentation of Baseline Metabolic Total Tumor Burden in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma: Which Method Is Most Successful? A Study on Behalf of the PETRA Consortium

Sally F. Barrington et al.

Summary: Metabolic tumor volume (MTV) is a promising biomarker for pretreatment risk in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Different segmentation methods have similar prognostic capabilities but yield different optimal cutoffs for risk stratification. Automating the estimation of MTV using SUV4.0 and MV2 is recommended for further evaluation.

Interim PET in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

Lars Kurch et al.

Summary: In diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, continuous scales such as qPET and Delta SUVmax are more suitable for predicting treatment outcomes based on interim PET scans compared to the ordinal Deauville scale. The positive predictive value curves for qPET and Delta SUVmax were found to be similar, with both methods identifying less than 15% of patients as poor responders. The study suggests that continuous scales offer more accurate outcome predictions in this context.

Age-related changes of standardized uptake values in the blood pool and liver: a decade-long retrospective study of the outcomes of 2,526 subjects

Yuan Cao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that age is a key factor influencing variations in blood pool and liver SUVs, with SUVs rising rapidly in the blood pool and liver until the age of 20 and showing a gradual upward trend thereafter. These findings help clinicians assess tumor patients' treatment responses more accurately.

Summary: The study investigated the optimal timing and response criteria for using I-PET in evaluating prognosis in DLBCL patients. Results showed that I-PET2 and I-PET4 could effectively discriminate good responders from poor responders during R-CHOP therapy.

The effect of hypothyroidism on referential background metabolic activity on 18F-FDG PET/CT

Pei Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, patients with hypothyroidism showed increased liver and blood-pool (18F)-FDG uptake and decreased muscle F-18-FDG uptake compared to euthyroid individuals. Multivariate analysis indicated serum thyroid-stimulating hormone levels as an important predictor for liver and bloodpool standardized uptake values, while serum free triiodothyronine levels were identified as a predictor for muscle standardized uptake values. These findings underscore the importance of considering thyroid function in metabolic response evaluation using PET/CT.
