Influence of porosity distribution on free vibration and buckling analysis of multi-directional functionally graded sandwich plates

Supen Kumar Sah et al.

Summary: This article investigates the free vibration and buckling of multi-directional porous FGM sandwich plates, obtaining equilibrium equations based on sinusoidal shear deformation theory and using Navier's solution technique for simply supported cases. Different porous distribution models are considered for the FGM face sheets, and the influence of various factors on the natural frequency and critical buckling load of the sandwich plate is analyzed.

Finite element analysis of functionally graded sandwich plates with porosity via a new hyperbolic shear deformation theory

Pham Van Vinh et al.

Summary: This study establishes a finite element model based on a new hyperbolic sheareformation theory to investigate the static bending, free vibration, and buckling of functionally graded sandwich plates with porosity. The results show that the distribution of porosity plays a significant role in the mechanical behavior of functionally graded sandwich plates.

Pham Van Vinh et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new first-order mixed beam element is proposed for investigating the static bending of functionally graded graphene oxide powder-reinforced composite beams. The proposed beam element, based on first-order shear deformation theory, offers accurate solutions with reduced computation cost.

Evaluation of the contact problem of functionally graded layer resting on rigid foundation pressed via rigid punch by analytical and numerical (FEM and MLP) methods

Murat Yaylaci et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the frictionless contact problem of a functionally graded layer using analytical, finite element, and multilayer perceptron methods. The results show that the finite element and multilayer perceptron analyses are quite compatible with the results obtained from the analytical method.

Investigation of thermal preloading and porosity effects on the nonlocal nonlinear instability of FG nanobeams with geometrical imperfection

E. Salari et al.

Summary: The research aims to study the nonlinear thermo-mechanical bending and thermal postbuckling of nanobeams, as well as to address the snap-through phenomenon in thermally preloaded graded porous nanobeams. Different parameters' effects on the nonlinear thermo-mechanical bending and instability of FG nanobeams are considered, and two strategies are proposed to extract the nonlinear bending and postbuckling curves of the nanobeams. The cylindrical arch-length technique is adopted to capture the snapping behavior beyond the limit loads of the thermally preloaded nanobeam.

Formulation of a New Mixed Four-Node Quadrilateral Element for Static Bending Analysis of Variable Thickness Functionally Graded Material Plates

Pham Van Vinh

Summary: A new mixed four-node quadrilateral element MiQ4 is proposed for studying functionally graded material plates with variable thickness. The element does not require selective or reduced numerical integration, reducing computation cost and showing insensitivity to very thin plates. Parameter studies are conducted to demonstrate the effects of various parameters on the static bending behavior of FGM plates.
