Predictors of Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter-De fi brillator Shocks and Prognostic Impact in Patients With Structural Heart Disease

Sandro Ninni et al.

Summary: This study assessed long-term outcomes in S-ICD recipients with structural heart disease, finding that appropriate shocks were associated with increased risk of heart failure hospitalisation, while inappropriate shocks were not. Conditional shock threshold programming was an independent predictor of S-ICD shock, warranting further investigation of its prognostic impact in patients with structural heart disease.

Primary Results From the Understanding Outcomes With the S-ICD in Primary Prevention Patients With Low Ejection Fraction (UNTOUCHED) Trial

Michael R. Gold et al.

Summary: The UNTOUCHED trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of contemporary S-ICD devices in a more typical, contemporary ICD patient population, demonstrating high freedom from IAS and shock rates. The study found a 18-month freedom from IAS of 95.9% and all-cause shock-free rate meeting the prespecified performance goal.
