Defect-Free Alternating Conjugated Polymers Enabled by Room- Temperature Stille Polymerization

Bowei Ma et al.

Summary: The Stille cross-coupling polymerization is an efficient method for synthesizing donor-acceptor pi-conjugated polymers. A room-temperature Stille-type polymerization was developed, resulting in the synthesis of twelve high molecular weight copolymers. The copolymers obtained from this method showed no homocoupling defects, unlike those produced by thermal-activation Stille polymerization. The organic field-effect transistors based on the copolymers exhibited higher charge transport mobility due to increased crystallinity and lower trap density of states.

Copper and Aluminium as Economically Imperfect Substitutes, Production and Price Development

Vojtech Bartos et al.

Summary: This article discusses the influence of non-renewable resources and industry demand on copper and aluminium prices. As copper ore stocks continue to decline, the search for substitutes becomes necessary. The research findings indicate that copper prices will decrease by the end of 2021, while aluminium prices will experience a sharp decline followed by a recovery and stabilization in early 2022. Copper and aluminium might not be perfect substitutes in certain aspects, but they have shown stability in recent years, with significant growth in aluminium production over the past decade and an expectation for continued growth in the near future.
