The comparison of natural and magnetically modified zeolites as an adsorbent in methyl violet removal from aqueous solutions

Esra Altintig et al.

Summary: This study compared the use of natural clinoptilolite and Fe3O4 loaded clinoptilolite as adsorbents for the removal of Methyl Violet from aqueous solutions, finding that Fe3O4 loaded clinoptilolite had a higher adsorption capacity. Experimental results indicated that Fe3O4 loaded clinoptilolite was a natural, low cost, and easily applicable adsorbent for the removal of Methyl Violet.

Removal of antimony(III) by magnetic MIL-101(Cr)-NH2 loaded with SiO2: optimization based on response surface methodology and adsorption properties

Zheng Wang et al.

Summary: The large-scale use of antimony has led to pollution in the ecological environment, which harms microorganisms, animals, plants, and humans. In this study, a new material called MSM was synthesized and used to adsorb Sb(III) in water. The MSM showed high adsorption capacity and surface area, making it suitable for practical applications in antimony removal.

Low-cost activated carbon preparation from Corn stigmata fibers chemically activated using H3PO4, ZnCl2 and KOH: Study of methylene blue adsorption, stochastic isotherm and fractal kinetic

Fatma Mbarki et al.

Summary: This study aimed to produce low-cost activated carbon (AC) from corn stigmata (CS) through chemical activation at low temperatures using H3PO4, ZnCl2, and KOH. The results showed that activation with phosphoric acid resulted in an adsorbent with a larger specific surface area and high pore size. Increasing the activation temperature from 200 to 500 degrees C led to the development of surface functions, a mixture of meso and microporosity, and a significant increase in specific surface area. The physicochemical and textural properties of ACs were analyzed using various techniques, and the adsorption process of methylene blue (MB) was well described by mathematical models. The maximum adsorption capacity for MB was found to be high compared to previous literature.

Peroxydisulfate activation using B-doped biochar for the degradation of oxytetracycline in water

Shiwei Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, B-doped biochar (BBC) materials with different B contents were prepared and used for the adsorption/degradation of oxytetracycline (OTC) through the activation of peroxydisulfate (PDS). The catalytic activity of BBC was improved to different degrees compared with that of pristine BC owing to enhanced OTC adsorption and PDS activation. Using free-radical-quenching experiments, two main pathways for OTC degradation were identified.

Comparisons of activated carbons produced from sycamore balls, ripe black locust seed pods, and Nerium oleander fruits and also their H2 storage studies

Osman Uner et al.

Summary: Starting materials play a crucial role in the production of activated carbons, as they determine the chemical structure which in turn affects the surface functional groups and morphologies. In this study, sycamore balls, ripe black locust seed pods, and Nerium oleander fruits were used for the first time as starting materials for the production of activated carbons through ZnCl2 chemical activation. Different production conditions were adjusted to obtain activated carbons with varying structural properties from these starting materials.
