Structures of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals Correlate with the Activation of 12 Classic Nuclear Receptors

Haoyue Tan et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively explores the structural and functional features of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) with 12 nuclear receptors (NRs) using hierarchical characteristic fragment methodology and high-throughput screening molecular docking. Through analysis of over 7000 chemicals, it was found that EDCs share three levels of key fragments that determine their binding to receptors and activity type.

Light-sheet skew rays enhanced U-shaped fiber-optic fluorescent immunosensor for Microcystin-LR

Jinchuan Liu et al.

Summary: A novel U-shaped fiber-optic evanescent-wave fluorescent immunosensor was designed for real-time detection of microcystin-LR using light-sheet excitation of skew rays. The sensor showed enhanced sensitivity with the use of light-sheet skew rays, leading to successful establishment of a sensitive real-time MC-LR detection method. The system demonstrated high recovery rates for MC-LR detection in environmental water samples, showing potential for on-site environmental monitoring and clinical diagnostics.

Aquatic Insects Transfer Pharmaceuticals and Endocrine Disruptors from Aquatic to Terrestrial Ecosystems

Ana Previsic et al.

Summary: The study provides evidence of the transfer of pharmaceuticals and endocrine disruptors through the aquatic-terrestrial habitat by emerging aquatic insects. Adult Trichoptera, an important food source for riparian predators, showed increased body burden of these contaminants. The transfer of these contaminants from aquatic primary producers to terrestrial predators may impact their physiology and population dynamics.

Interplay between orphan nuclear receptors and androgen receptor-dependent or-independent growth signalings in prostate cancer

Yuliang Wang et al.

Summary: Prostate cancer relies on the androgen receptor-mediated signaling for growth, making hormone or androgen-deprivation therapy a key treatment option. Despite its effectiveness in locally advanced or metastatic cases, most patients will develop resistance, leading to castration-resistant disease or even a more aggressive androgen-independent subtype. These newly identified orphan nuclear receptors (ONRs) have shown potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets in advanced prostate cancer.

Recognition and Selectivity Analysis Monitoring of Multicomponent Steroid Estrogen Mixtures in Complex Systems Using a Group-Targeting Environmental Sensor

Siyao Liu et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive and group-targeting environmental monitoring sensor was developed to analyze multicomponent steroid estrogens in complex systems, with a minimum detection limit of 33 pM. The sensor showed high sensitivity and resistance to interference, enabling selective detection of multiple SEs in environmental samples. This sensor has significant potential for identifying and monitoring endocrine-disrupting chemical mixtures in complex environmental systems.
