Perfluoroalkyl substances and thyroid stimulating hormone levels in a highly exposed population in the Veneto Region

Elisa Gallo et al.

Summary: The study found no association between TSH and any type of PFAS among adolescents or women. However, in male adults, there was a decrease in TSH concentration associated with an IQR increase in PFHxS and a mild decrease in TSH at low levels of PFOA, PFOS, and PFHxS. Self-reported thyroid disease was more common among women with higher levels of PFNA concentrations, while other PFAS were not associated with thyroid diseases regardless of sex or age.

Exposure to novel and legacy per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and associations with type 2 diabetes: A case-control study in East China

Xu Han et al.

Summary: The study revealed potential associations between PFAS exposure and type 2 diabetes, glycemic biomarkers, and lipid fractions, suggesting PFASs as a potential diabetogenic factor. However, further research is needed to clarify the observed inverse associations.
