Antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungus (Paraconiothyrium brasiliense) through targeting dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS)

Anbazhagan Sathiyaseelan et al.

Summary: Endophytic fungi, such as Paraconiothyrium brasiliense, are rich sources of bioactive metabolites with potential biomedical applications. This study isolated PB from Capsicum annuum fruit and evaluated its biochemical, antimicrobial, antioxidant, cell viability, and cytotoxicity properties. Results showed that PB-EAE exhibited significant antioxidant and antimicrobial activities, while GC-MS analysis confirmed the presence of various volatile molecules. Molecular docking analysis also demonstrated significant interactions between compounds in PB-EAE and the target protein DHPS. This study suggests that endophytic P. brasiliense could be a valuable source of antimicrobials.
