Anthocyanin food colorant and its application in pH-responsive color change indicator films

Swarup Roy et al.

Summary: Anthocyanins, as natural pigments, have shown great potential in the field of smart packaging, with their pH-responsive color-changing properties being particularly useful for monitoring the freshness and quality of food products. Studies have highlighted the practical application value of eco-friendly biodegradable polymer-based color indicator films incorporating anthocyanins.

Identifying influencing groundwater parameter on human health associate with irrigation indices using the Automatic Linear Model (ALM) in a semi-arid region in India

Balamurugan Panneerselvam et al.

Summary: The study evaluated groundwater suitability for irrigation using various indices, finding that over half of the samples exceeded permissible levels, while some were suitable for irrigation but needed treatment. Automatic Linear Modelling predicted key influencing parameters, with findings showing magnesium concentration and salinity as primary factors affecting water suitability.

Sustainable Durio zibethinus-Derived Biosorbents for Congo Red Removal from Aqueous Solution: Statistical Optimization, Isotherms and Mechanism Studies

A. A. Oyekanmi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the biosorption mechanism of Congo Red dyes using acid-treated durian peels, showing that under optimal conditions of pH 5.5, contact time 105 min, initial concentration 212.5 mg L-1, at 45 degrees C, the durian peels achieved 95.2% removal of CR. The experimental data fitted well to the second order polynomial model and the Langmuir isotherm model, indicating a biosorption capacity of 107.52 mg g(-1) and spontaneous adsorption of CR dyes.

Groundwater quality assessment using a new integrated-weight water quality index (IWQI) and driver analysis in the Jiaokou Irrigation District, China

Qiying Zhang et al.

Summary: Groundwater is an important water resource in arid and semi-arid regions, but human activities are increasingly impacting its quality. A study in the Jiaokou Irrigation District in the Guanzhong Basin, China, assessed groundwater quality using a new integrated-weight water quality index. The study found that a significant portion of groundwater in the area is unsuitable for drinking, with ions like SO42-, HCO3-, Cl-, NO3-, and Na+ having a major impact on quality.

High residual sodium carbonate water in the Indian subcontinent: concerns, challenges and remediation

G. Murtaza et al.

Summary: Water scarcity is a major constraint in global agriculture, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, necessitating the adoption of management strategies for irrigation with low-quality waters. Implementing efficient irrigation practices and government policies are essential for sustainable agriculture in these regions.

Hydrochemical Assessment of the Irrigation Water Quality of the El-Salam Canal, Egypt

Yasser A. El-Amier et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the water quality along the El-Salam Canal in Egypt and found an increasing trend in the concentrations of major cations and anions as well as variations in heavy metal levels. It is recommended to treat drainage water before mixing with irrigation water to improve suitability, particularly for the Hadous drain.

Correlation of various water quality parameters and water quality index of districts of Uttarakhand

Vinod Kothari et al.

Summary: This study assessed the water quality of rural areas in Garhwal and Kumaon districts of Uttarakhand, India, based on hydrogeochemical and biological parameters, as well as calculation of Water Quality Index (WQI). The physicochemical properties met standards for drinking purposes, but bacteriological parameters in some samples exceeded permissible limits. Statistical analysis revealed significant relationships between different water quality parameters, with TDS showing the highest correlation with conductivity, sulphate, and chloride ion concentration.
