Emission characteristics of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans from industrial combustion of biomass fuels

Chunlin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated PCDD/F emissions from industrial boilers fired with different biomass fuels and found that some emissions exceeded limit values, with 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF potentially being a good indicator of dioxin-induced toxicity. The emission factor varied among the boiler types, with biomass-pellet-fired boilers having the highest emissions.

Chemical profiles of PM2.5 emitted from various anthropogenic sources of the Eastern Mediterranean: Cooking, wood burning, and diesel generators

Marc Fadel et al.

Summary: The chemical profiles of PM2.5 emitted from different sources including a non-road diesel generator, wood burning, and cooking activities were analyzed. The main component in the PM2.5 from all sources was carbonaceous matter, with varying contributions from different sources and specific markers identified. Water-soluble ions and elemental content also varied between sources. These findings are important for source identification and apportionment methods.

The short-term associations of particular matters on non-accidental mortality and causes of death in Chiang Mai, Thailand: a time series analysis study between 2016-2018

Chaicharn Pothirat et al.

Summary: In Chiang Mai, open burnings, agricultural and forest fires are major sources of particulate matters. The increased daily PM10 and PM2.5 were found to be associated with daily non-accidental mortality and causes of death, including COPD, CAD, and sepsis.

Characteristics of PCDD/Fs in PM2.5 from emission stacks and the nearby ambient air in Taiwan

Shih Yu Pan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of PCDD/Fs in fine particulate matter from different stationary emission sources in Taiwan and the relationship between PM2.5 and PM2.5-bound PCDD/Fs with Taiwanese mortality risk. The highest concentrations of PM2.5 and PCDD/Fs were found in CFB and EAF, respectively. The distribution of PCDDs and PCDFs varied among different stationary emission sources.
