Identification of Novel Microcystins Using High-Resolution MS and MSn with Python Code

David Baliu-Rodriguez et al.

Summary: In this study, a method was developed for the putative identification of novel microcystin congeners using LC-MS with simultaneous HRMS and MS/MS. By analyzing Maumee River water samples and identifying characteristic MC fragments, eight previously reported MCs without standards and two newly discovered congeners were putatively identified.

PANTHER version 16: a revised family classification, tree-based classification tool, enhancer regions and extensive API

Huaiyu Mi et al.

Summary: PANTHER is a resource for evolutionary and functional classification of protein-coding genes, with extensive improvements made in the past two years, including the refactoring of Protein Class ontology and addition of services for programmatic access. The resource provides comprehensive classification and annotation information for genes from different taxonomic groups and also allows users to add their own protein sequences for evolutionary context and fine-grained annotations.

Microcystin-LR (MC-LR) Triggers Inflammatory Responses in Macrophages

Robin C. Su et al.

Summary: In patients with colitis, microcystin-LR can exacerbate inflammation by affecting macrophage activation, and doramapimod has been found to effectively prevent MC-LR-induced inflammatory responses.

A single-cell type transcriptomics map of human tissues

Max Karlsson et al.

Summary: Advances in molecular profiling have enabled the creation of high-resolution single-cell type maps of human tissues, combining single-cell transcriptomics analysis with spatial antibody-based protein profiling. This technology allows researchers to explore the expression of human protein-coding genes and determine the number of elevated genes in different cell types, facilitating comparisons with bulk transcriptomics data. The analysis reveals distinct expression clusters corresponding to cell types with similar functions within and between organs.
