Impacts of renewable portfolio standards on multi-market coupling trading of renewable energy in China: A scenario-based system dynamics model

Xiao-hua Song et al.

Summary: China has implemented brand new renewable portfolio standards (RPS) since 2020, impacting multiple markets including the renewable electricity market, consumption above quota market, and tradable green certificate (TGC) market. Research findings show that setting RPS quota planning goals is crucial for market stability and renewable energy production growth, while appropriately increasing unit penalties can stimulate market consumer demand.

The effect of regulatory uncertainty in green certificate markets: Evidence from the Swedish-Norwegian market

Kajsa Ganhammar

Summary: The study shows that regulatory interventions in the certificate market exacerbate price volatility and do not stabilize prices after market integration with Norway. Additionally, price risk increases the threshold for immediate development of Swedish wind power projects, reducing the probability of project development.

Provincial allocation of renewable portfolio standard in China based on efficiency and fairness principles

Jie Xu et al.

Summary: This study establishes two quota allocation models for renewable energy targets, LC-RPS and IN-RPS, and compares them with the GM-RPS and the NO-RPS scenarios. Results show that LC-RPS has lower power generation cost but slightly lower fairness compared to the other three scenarios, still demonstrating relative fairness in power generation cost.

Induction mechanism and optimization of tradable green certificates and carbon emission trading acting on electricity market in China

Tian-tian Feng et al.

Summary: China has set emission reduction targets for 2030 and 2060, and implemented CET and TGC to achieve these goals. Through simulation and policy synergy modeling, it was found that TGC and CET systems can optimize power supply structure and slow down the growth rate of CO2 emissions.

Coordination of tradable carbon emission permits market and renewable electricity certificates market in China

Ge Wang et al.

Summary: The study shows that establishing coordinated carbon emission quotas and renewable energy markets in China will be more economically efficient, and can achieve the dual goals of reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy pursued by the government. Coordinated markets can reduce market risks, maintain lower price levels, and lower consumers' electricity purchase costs.
