Renewable biosurfactants for energy-efficient storage of methane: An experimental and computational investigation

Abdolreza Farhadian et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of sunflower oil-based promoters (SFOPs) on methane hydrate kinetics, showing that SFOP1 significantly reduced induction time and overall time of hydrate formation compared to SDS, and enhanced the kinetic constant of hydrate formation. SFOPs also increased gas consumption and did not lead to foam formation.

Characterizing Mass-Transfer mechanism during gas hydrate formation from water droplets

Huiyong Liang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the mass-transfer characteristics of water and guest molecules in dense hydrate structures during formation from water droplets. Experimental results showed time-dependent 3D morphologies and parameters of hydrate shells, revealing a transition in the water transport schema within hydrate shells from diffusion to permeation. The effective diffusion coefficients of gas and water molecules in hydrates were quantified, providing fundamental insights for optimizing hydrate-based techniques.

Contrasting impacts of mixed nonionic surfactant micelles on plant growth in the delivery of fungicide and herbicide

Xuzhi Hu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the interaction between mixed nonionic surfactants and pesticides/wax films. Lower HLB nonionic surfactants form larger nanoaggregates, enhancing wettability and solubilization of pesticides across the wax film, while higher HLB surfactants balance delivery efficiency and phytotoxicity risks for fungicides. The findings provide insights for the design of surfactants in agrochemical formulations.

Synthesis and characterization both micellization and thermodynamic parameter of cationic surfactant mixture derived from vegetable oil

Summary: The imidazolinium chloride salts show potential as a new material for industrial applications due to their unique structures and properties. The study focused on synthesizing a mixture of fatty imidazolinium chlorides and investigating their surface properties and thermodynamic criteria, finding them to be valuable for both fundamental and industrial operations. The research revealed that the process of both micellization and adsorption of the air-ionic surfactant aqueous system was spontaneous, with adsorption being more favored than micellization.

Hydrogen Economy and Role of Hythane as a Bridging Solution: A Perspective Review

Bhavikkumar Mahant et al.

Summary: Molecular hydrogen is considered the most optimistic solution for achieving a carbon-neutral energy economy, with current production primarily dependent on conventional fossil fuels, but research on utilizing potential renewable and biological sources is ongoing. Due to its small molecule size, hydrogen has poor volumetric storage efficiency, leading to active exploration of creative storage methods.

Enhanced methane storage in clathrate hydrates induced by antifreezes

Byeonggwan Lee et al.

Summary: Antifreezes such as methanol and ammonia can enhance methane storage in binary clathrate hydrates like THF and TBAB. Methanol acts as a catalyst for methane hydrate formation and induces TBAB hydrates to form an orthorhombic structure suitable for methane storage. These findings suggest that methanol could play a crucial role in hydrate-based methane storage systems.

Review of natural gas hydrate dissociation effects on seabed stability

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: Natural gas hydrate (NGH) is a high-energy clean energy substance with a high value, but is prone to decomposition during exploitation, leading to destruction of seabed stability. Studies show that NGH reserves are large and easily decomposed, with the dissociation of NGH being the main factor of seabed instability. The factors affecting NGH decomposition include environmental changes, human activities, seabed structure differences, and sea solute differences.

Stability analysis of methane hydrates for gas storage application

Gaurav Bhattacharjee et al.

Summary: Solidified Natural Gas (SNG) technology provides a compact and safe option for large-scale natural gas storage. Introducing thermodynamic promoters like THF into the classical methane-water system enables rapid gas uptake at moderate pressure and temperature. The study compares the stability of cylindrical mixed methane-THF (sII) and pure methane (sI) hydrate pellets, with results showing exceptional stability of sII hydrates and significant gas evolution from sI hydrates stored at different temperatures. Long-term stability testing of methane-THF (sII) hydrate pellets produced using fresh and seawater demonstrates the commercial viability of SNG technology.

Sheshan Bhimrao Meshram et al.

Summary: THIs are water-loving additives that interact with water in an aqueous phase and inhibit hydrate nucleation under specific temperature and pressure conditions. LDHIs, on the other hand, work by slowing down hydrate growth and preventing agglomeration, offering a solution to flow assurance challenges in oil and gas facilities with lower concentrations of additives.
