Study on the Relationship Between Open-Circuit Voltage, Time Constant And Polarization Resistance of Lithium-Ion Batteries

Baohe Yuan et al.

Summary: Battery management system (BMS) plays a crucial role in battery applications, and accurate estimation of state of charge (SOC) for lithium-ion batteries is of utmost importance. The relationship between open circuit voltage (OCV) and SOC needs to be real-time and accurate. This research focuses on studying the relaxation behavior of battery OCV, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between time constant and polarization resistance with SOC during relaxation.

Electrochemical impedance correlation analysis for the estimation of Li-ion battery state of charge, state of health and internal temperature

Kieran Mc Carthy et al.

Summary: This paper performs correlation analysis between equivalent circuit elements and impedance spectra of multiple commercial Li-ion polymer batteries to identify and quantify the degree of dependence, and proposes optimal impedance variables that demonstrate high dependence with state of charge (SoC), state of health (SoH) and internal temperature (IT). Knowledge of this information is of high value for developing direct impedance-based state estimation models for real-time battery management systems.
