Aluminum-copper alloy anode materials for high-energy aqueous aluminum batteries

Qing Ran et al.

Summary: This study reports the use of aluminum-copper alloys as anode active materials in aqueous aluminum batteries, which improves the electrochemical behavior of the aluminum electrode and achieves dendrite-free aluminum deposition. Under experimental conditions, the aluminum-copper alloy electrode demonstrates low overpotential over 2000 hours, and when combined with a specific cathode material, it delivers high specific energy and cycling stability.

Carbon material/MnO2 as conductive skeleton for supercapacitor electrode material: A review

Tian Yue et al.

Summary: Supercapacitors, a new type of energy storage device, have attracted widespread attention in the field of energy and the environment. Composites based on carbon material/MnO2 have become a hotspot in electrode materials for supercapacitors, and the introduction of a third material can further enhance the properties of the composites. This paper provides a review and analysis of binary and ternary composites of carbon material/MnO2 and their applications, highlighting the need for a superposition of different dimensions and an optimum capacitive balance index for excellent performance. The paper also predicts the future trend of biomass activated carbon/low-dimensional carbon material (1D,2D)/MnO2 and new technologies such as graft oxidation and 3D printing. Finally, the challenges and development trends of multi-composites based on carbon material/MnO2 are summarized and predicted.

VN nanoparticle-assembled hollow microspheres/N-doped carbon nanofibers: An anode material for superior potassium storage

Ya Ru Pei et al.

Summary: In this paper, VN-NPs/N-CNFs were synthesized through an electrospinning process and employed as anodes for potassium ion batteries. The VN-NPs/N-CNFs exhibited excellent rate performance and prolonged cyclability, surpassing other reported metal nitride-based anodes. This can be attributed to the reduction of potassium ion diffusion distance and volume expansion through the assembly of VN nanoparticle-assembled hollow microspheres, as well as the provision of numerous active sites and rapid electron/ion transport by interconnected N-CNFs.

Thermal-expansion offset for high-performance fuel cell cathodes

Yuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates an approach to achieving full thermo-mechanical compatibility between the cathode and other cell components for solid oxide fuel cells. By introducing a thermal-expansion offset and using reactive sintering to form a composite electrode, the research shows high activity and excellent stability of the electrode. The introduction of reactive negative-thermal-expansion components may provide a general strategy for developing fully compatible and highly active electrodes for SOFCs.
