Aptasensors versus immunosensors-Which will prevail?

Sofia Arshavsky-Graham et al.

Summary: Since the invention of the first biosensors 70 years ago, they have become valuable tools for various applications. Antibodies have traditionally been used as capture probes in biosensors, but suffer from limitations such as size, conjugation chemistry, stability, and cost. Aptamers have emerged as promising alternatives, offering advantages over antibodies and introducing new biosensing concepts.

Oriented immobilization of antibodies onto sensing platforms-A critical review

Shipeng Gao et al.

Summary: This review discusses the importance of stepwise covalent conjugation in the fabrication of high-efficiency immunosensors, emphasizing the well-orientation of full-length IgGs onto the sensing platform. By combining non-covalent adsorption and covalent conjugation, IgGs can be fixed in a specific orientation, crucial for biosensing efficiency.

Kynurenic Acid Electrochemical Immunosensor: Blood-Based Diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease

Jose Marrugo-Ramirez et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by brain function deterioration, and there is a need for a sensitive and selective blood-based biomarker detection method. KYNA is identified as a potential biomarker for this purpose. The novel electrochemical immunosensor developed in this study can detect KYNA with a low detection limit, showing potential for practical application.
