Dynamic state estimation method for multiple battery energy storage systems with droop-based consensus control

Yin Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a droop-based consensus control method for balancing the energy of multiple BESS units in a microgrid system. By employing an extended Kalman filter (EKF) for dynamic state estimation, disturbances in communication and measurement noise can be effectively mitigated.

Power System State Estimation using Non-Iterative Weighted Least Square method based on Wide Area Measurements with maximum redundancy

Sravan Kumar Kotha et al.

Summary: In this study, the accuracy of power system state estimation is addressed. A modified integer linear programming technique is proposed to achieve full observability with maximum redundancy. Additionally, a non-iterative weighted least square approach is developed to improve the accuracy of state estimation. Extensive simulations on various test systems demonstrate the effectiveness and precision of these methods.

Time series generative adversarial network controller for long-term smart generation control of microgrids

Linfei Yin et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a long-term smart generation control framework with a single time-scale to replace the conventional combined generation control framework with two time-scales, and introduces a time series generative adversarial network controller. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed controller achieves higher control performance and smaller economic cost in the long-term.

Two-stage stochastic programming formulation for optimal design and operation of multi-microgrid system using data-based modeling of renewable energy sources

Dongho Han et al.

Summary: Microgrid (MG) is designed to accommodate distributed renewable energy sources and manage electricity generation using dispatch and storage systems to meet local demand. Multi-microgrid (MMG) systems can alleviate demand-supply mismatch issues through energy trading between individual MGs, but their design and operation become more complex. A two-stage stochastic decision-making approach is proposed in this study to design and operate an MMG while considering both capital and operating costs for electric cable installations. Stochastic models are developed using real weather data to describe the uncertain nature of energy production through renewable sources, and decisions are made in the first stage regarding the installation of electric cables between individual MGs to achieve the best tradeoff.

Summary: This paper introduces a new control method for a distributed energy storage system in order to maintain DC bus voltage in a direct current microgrid. The proposed method utilizes fuel cell and supercapacitor storage systems to address slow and fast-frequency power surges, respectively, improving fuel cell efficiency. The efficacy of the proposed control method is examined through simulations and experimental validation.
