Mo2C-MXene/CdS Heterostructures as Visible-Light Photocatalysts with an Ultrahigh Hydrogen Production Rate

Sen Jin et al.

Summary: The study introduces a visible-light photocatalyst Mo2C-MXene/CdS, which exhibits a higher H-2 production rate compared to catalysts based on noble metals or other MXenes, along with favorable electronic structures for water splitting. This heterostructure provides an efficient reaction site for the hydrogen evolution reaction, making it a promising catalyst with ultrahigh performance to replace noble-metal catalysts.

Carbon Capture and Usage by MXenes

Raul Morales-Salvador et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional pristine M2X MXenes are proposed as highly active catalytic materials for carbon dioxide (CO2) greenhouse gas conversion into carbon monoxide (CO) using a multiscale modeling approach. MXene surfaces are partially covered by atomic oxygen during the CO2 conversion, which can be recovered by hydrogen treatment at high temperatures, functioning effectively as two-step catalysts for the reverse water-gas shift reaction.

In situ reduced MXene/AuNPs composite toward enhanced charging/discharging and specific capacitance

Zixiang Zheng et al.

Summary: In this work, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) decorated Ti3C2Tx nanosheets (MXene/AuNPs composite) were successfully fabricated through self-reduction reaction. The obtained composite exhibited uniform dispersion of 23 nm AuNPs on Ti3C2Tx nanosheets, leading to a higher specific capacitance and cyclic stability in supercapacitor applications. The composite also showed promising potential as a candidate for integrated and flexible supercapacitors.
