The formation mechanism of {11(2)over-bar1}<(11)over-bar26>, primary paired {10(1)over-bar2} <(1)over-bar011> and secondary twins in Zircaloy-4 alloy with coarse α lamellae

Yingdong Zhang et al.

Summary: The EBSD technique was used to study the formation mechanism of twinning in Zircaloy-4 alloy with coarse alpha lamellae. The mechanisms of primary paired twins and secondary twins were discussed, leading to the proposal of a model.

Investigation on micromechanism of ferrite hardening after pre-straining with different strain rates of dual-phase steel

Yongnan Chen et al.

Summary: The study showed that increasing strain rates in dual-phase steel leads to an increase in GNDs and LAGBs in ferrite, resulting in higher hardness. At lower strain rates, strain localization was observed within ferrite grains, while at higher strain rates, significant strain localization occurred at the ferrite/bainite interface.

Effect of Si element on improving the oxidation resistance of hybrid (Ti5Si3 + TiC) particles reinforced Ti6Al4V matrix composites

Xiaoyu Huang et al.

Summary: The addition of Si element significantly improves the oxidation resistance of (Ti5Si3 + TiC)/Ti6Al4V composites by sealing the voids among TiO2 scale with SiO2, resulting in a densified oxide scale that bonds well with the substrate. The oxidation behaviors of the composites are hardly affected by TiC particles.

Enhanced corrosion resistance of the surface modified Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy by ultrasonic shot peening

Pramod Kumar et al.

Summary: The corrosion resistance of the near-beta Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy was improved by ultrasonic shot peening treatment, primarily due to grain refinement and the increase in compressive residual stresses in the surface region. Passivation was most prominent after 30 seconds of USSP treatment, decreasing with longer durations.

Three-dimensional microstructure and texture evolution of Ti35 alloy applied in nuclear industry during plastic deformation at various temperatures

Jianping Xu et al.

Summary: The microstructure and texture evolution of Ti35 alloy during plastic deformation at various temperatures were systematically investigated. Different stages of fragmentation, elongation, and recrystallization were observed. The study revealed that the compressive twinning during hot rolling significantly improved the mechanical properties of Ti35 alloy.
