Improvement in Fresh, Mechanical and Microstructural Properties of Fly Ash- Blast Furnace Slag Based Geopolymer Concrete By Addition of Nano and Micro Silica

Syed Mohammed Mustakim et al.

Summary: The study indicates that nano-silica (NS) and silica fume (SF) contribute to the improvement of compressive strength of geopolymer concrete by facilitating a higher degree of geopolymerization. Analytical methods such as X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, and electron microscopy are effective in studying the properties of concrete samples.

Summary: This study investigated the properties of EAFS geopolymer cement activated with NaOH and sodium silicate solution, and found that by partially replacing EAFS with FA, improved properties such as high flowability, high mechanical strength, low water absorption, low charge passed, prevention of microcrack formation, and refinement of microstructure can be achieved.

Impact of alkali activated mortar incorporating different heavy metals on immobilization proficiency using gamma rays attenuation

H. M. Khater et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of heavy metals on the attenuation properties of geopolymer mortar used in radiation shielding for nuclear facilities. The study found that replacing sand with fine lead slag aggregates can increase the density of blast furnace slag geopolymer mortar, and mortars containing EAFS as fine materials have the highest density compared to other heavy metals such as lead slag, barium sulfate, and lead phosphate.

An investigation on the effect of sea sand on the properties of fly ash geopolymer mortars

Alaa M. Rashad et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of untreated sea sand on the compressive strength and durability of fly ash-based geopolymer mortars. The results show that the incorporation of sea sand has a negative effect on the performance of mortars, as the deterioration increases with the content of sea sand.

Utilization of alkaline Aluminosilicate activation in heavy metals immobilization and producing dense hybrid composites

H. M. Khater et al.

Summary: This study investigated the capability of geopolymers in immobilizing heavy metals bearing materials, and found that different heavy metal materials can be efficiently immobilized in specific proportions. The physico-mechanical characterization of the samples showed that barium sulfate, lead phosphate, lead slag, and electric arc furnace dust can be effectively used up to certain percentages in the produced composites.
