The effect of filler permittivity on the dielectric properties of polymer-based composites

Zilong Xie et al.

Summary: Polymer dielectrics have the potential for high breakdown strength and low dielectric loss, but suffer from low permittivity. Adding high permittivity filler in polymer can increase the permittivity, but it also decreases the breakdown strength and increases the dielectric loss. Fillers with lower permittivity can enable higher breakdown strength and lower dielectric loss by removing high electric field. However, this conclusion remains controversial due to experimental interferences.

Improving the comprehensive properties of PBO fibres/cyanate ester composites using a hyperbranched fluorine and epoxy containing PBO precursor

Zheng Liu et al.

Summary: The introduction of hyperbranched structure and fluorine groups in epoxy-preFHBPBO significantly improved the mechanical properties and wave-transparent performance of PBO fibers reinforced BADCy resins composites. The addition of 7 wt% epoxy-preFHBPBO increased the flexural strength and interlaminar shear strength, while reducing dielectric constant and dielectric loss compared to PBO fibers/BADCy composites. Moreover, the volume resistivity and breakdown strength were also enhanced in PBO fibers/FHBPBO-co-BADCy composites.
