A Unified Solution for Free Vibration Analysis of Beam-Plate-Shell Combined Structures with General Boundary Conditions

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: A semi-analytical method is presented for analyzing the free vibration response of complex beam-plate-shell combined structures. The method is based on the energy theory of beam-plate-shell and involves constructing a theoretical model that includes stiffened rings and bulkheads. Virtual spring technology is used to express the energy stored at the junctions and boundaries. The method provides an analytical way to study the vibrational response, and its convergence, accuracy, and reliability are validated through comparisons with references and finite element method. The method also investigates the effects of different boundary conditions and the influence of stiffened rings and bulkheads, offering a feasible approach for designing reinforced structures and optimizing bulkheads in engineering problems.

Spectral element modeling and experimental investigations on vibration behaviors of imperfect plate considering irregular hole and curved crack

Rui Zhong et al.

Summary: This work focuses on exploring the free vibration mechanism of plates with complex holes and cracks of arbitrary shape. A weak-form spectral element modeling approach is proposed and experimentally validated. By employing a flexible coordinate mapping strategy, the discontinuity problem of irregular holes and varying curvature cracks is effectively addressed. Modal experiments further confirm the excellent predictive capability of the spectral element methodology in vibration performance.

M. Rezaiee-Pajand et al.

Summary: This article predicts the vibrational behavior of composite coupled conical-conical shell structures with Carbon NanoTube (CNT) fibers of Functionally Graded distributions. By utilizing Donnell's theory, Hamilton method, and five-parameter shell theory, the governing equations of motion are obtained and solved using an efficient Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). The accuracy of the proposed formulation is verified through well-known benchmarks, numerical examples, and parametric studies, demonstrating high accuracy in analyzing the behavior of coupled shells.

Nonlinear free and forced vibration of porous piezoelectric doubly-curved shells based on NUEF model

Changsong Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the nonlinear free and forced vibration of porous piezoelectric doubly-curved shells resting on visco-Pasternak foundation under the framework of the nonuniform electric field model and von Kármán geometric nonlinearity assumption. The study explores the relationship between nonlinear free vibration responses and nonlinear forced vibration responses using numerical examples with different parameters. The main novelty lies in the excellent agreement between the calculated nonlinear frequency ratio from nonlinear free vibration and the resonant frequency ratio from nonlinear forced vibration.
