Children's oral health-related behaviours and early childhood caries: A latent class analysis

Miguel A. Simancas-Pallares et al.

Summary: The study identified two distinct clusters of early childhood oral health-related behaviors, one being favorable (74%) and the other unfavorable (26%). Children in the favorable cluster exhibited better oral hygiene practices, lower consumption of sugar-containing snacks and beverages, less frequent night-time bottle-feeding, and a higher likelihood of having a dental home. On the other hand, children in the unfavorable cluster had higher prevalence of early childhood caries, greater caries burden, more untreated disease, and worse parent-reported oral health status compared to the favorable cluster.
