Synthesis and Organization of Gold-Peptide Nanoparticles for Catalytic Activities

Manzar Abbas et al.

Summary: A new synthesis strategy for gold-peptide composite nanomaterials is reported in this study, where gold nanoparticles self-align on assembled nanofibers of ultrashort oligopeptides. The composite material shows catalytic ability to degrade environmental pollutants and has potential applications in biomedical and bio-catalysis without the need for external chemical reagents.

Imidazole-stabilized gold nanoclusters with thiol depletion capacity for antibacterial application

Fang Gong et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the facile preparation of imidazole-stabilized gold nanoclusters using 1-vinylimidazole as a reducing and capping agent. The imidazole ligands provide moderate stability and thiol depletion capacity to the gold nanoclusters, allowing for the accumulation of oxidizing species and elevation of oxidative stress. Consequently, the imidazole-protected gold nanoclusters exhibit intrinsic antibacterial activity.

Reduction of silver ions to form silver nanoparticles by redox-active organic molecules: coupled impact of the redox state and environmental factors

Feng Dong et al.

Summary: Our study revealed different pathways for Ag+ reduction to form AgNPs, with an organic's redox state and environmental factors having a combined effect. O2 diminished the reducing capacity of NADH and AQDSred, while UV light dramatically enhanced AgNP formation rate in AQDS independent of O2.
