Enhanced removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution by stabilized nanoscale zero valent iron and copper bimetal intercalated montmorillonite

Yin Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that the MMT-nFe(0)/Cu-0 nanocomposite can effectively remove Cr(VI) pollutants, exhibiting good dispersibility and reduction activity, and preventing the release of metal ions. This composite material not only has advantages in reaction rate, but also has good environmental friendliness.

Research progress on removal of phthalates pollutants from environment

Ziqiao Zhu et al.

Summary: Phthalates were commonly used as plasticizers, but their presence and removal in various environments have become a major issue. This article reviews the recent methods, including titanium dioxide catalyst degradation, activated persulfate degradation, and biodegradation, for removing and degrading phthalates. The effects of different materials and modification methods are compared, and the removal of the four most common phthalate esters in the atmosphere, water environment, and soil is comprehensively reviewed. The degradation pathways and mechanisms are explained, and the limitations and future development directions are summarized.

Nanocomposites of graphene and zirconia for adsorption of organic-arsenic drugs: Performances comparison and analysis of adsorption behavior

Shan-Juan Zou et al.

Summary: The nanocomposites of zirconia nanoparticles with different crystal phases exhibited varying adsorption capacities for 3-NHPAA. The monoclinic phase of zirconia showed superior adsorption performance with a wider pH range. Adsorption followed pseudo-second order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm, and was found to be endothermic and spontaneous.

Nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide with pure monoclinic-ZrO2 and pure tetragonal-ZrO2 for selective adsorptive removal of oxytetracycline

Dong Hao et al.

Summary: By controlling the dosage of triethanolamine, two nanocomposites of monoclinic-ZrO2@rGO and tetragonal-ZrO2@rGO were successfully prepared, with the tetragonal-ZrO2@rGO exhibiting a higher adsorptive amount for OTC. Both nanocomposites show a selective uptake of OTC among tetracycline antibiotics, with adsorption reaching equilibrium in 15 minutes and being independent of pH in the range of 4-8. The interactions between OTC and the nanocomposites were revealed through Fourier transform infrared and XRD analysis, with surface complexation, pi-pi, and cation-pi bonding interactions playing a crucial role.

Adsorption behavior of Cd (II) on TEMPO-oxidized cellulose in inorganic/organic complex systems

Huajian Yu et al.

Summary: TEMPO-oxidized cellulose (TOCS) with a nanofunctionalized surface and abundant carboxyl groups showed different adsorption behaviors for coexisting metals and antibiotics in single and binary systems. The key mechanisms identified were coordination behaviors and electrostatic attraction in the single system, while hydrophobic interactions and other factors contributed to adsorption in the binary system. The maximum adsorption capacity for TOCS in a complex interference system was found to be 5.83 mg/g.
