Precise Cation Recognition in Two-Dimensional Nanofluidic Channels of Clay Membranes Imparted from Intrinsic Selectivity of Clays

Tingting Zhang et al.

Summary: A study reported the reassembly of natural clays montmorillonite, mica, and vermiculite into membranes with nanofluidic channel arrays, allowing precise recognition and directional regulation of interlayer cations. Through structural modification, different ion transport behaviors and current rectification were achieved in clay nanofluidic channels, showing potential applications.

Effect of Polyacrylamide on Rheological Properties of Underwater Non-dispersible Paste of Alkali-Activated Slag

Zhongzhe Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rheological parameters of alkali-activated slag underwater non-dispersible paste (AAS-UNDP) and found that the rheological model of AAS-UNDP is consistent with the Herschel-Bulkley model. Molecular dynamics simulations showed that polyacrylamide (PAM) can improve the diffusion rate of particles in AAS-UNDP.

Effect of protonation and deprotonation reactions of clay on regulating pyrite flotation in the presence of clay

Licai Chen et al.

Summary: The study found that protonation and deprotonation reactions of clay under weakly acidic and alkalescent environment can affect the flotation of pyrite. Deprotonation reactions improve the flotation by reducing the attraction between clay and pyrite, while protonation reactions lead to the inhibition of pyrite flotation by clay. The results provide insights into the mechanisms of pH effects on clay-regulated flotation and offer guidance for mitigating negative clay effects in future work.

Estimation of viscosity and hydrolysis kinetics of corn starch gels based on microstructural features using a simplified model

Maria Santamaria et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of starch gel viscosity on microstructure and enzymatic hydrolysis kinetics. The research found that with higher gel viscosity, the kinetics constants of hydrolysis decreased, indicating that enzyme diffusion into the gel was hindered, affecting the hydrolysis process.

Synthesis of nanosized ultrathin MoS2 on montmorillonite nanosheets by CVD method

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, nanosized ultrathin MoS2 was successfully synthesized on exfoliated montmorillonite (MMT) for the first time using CVD method, with two reaction mechanisms discovered when using flow gas with or without H-2. The introduction of H-2 was found to promote MoS2 crystal growth and reduce nucleation density, leading to excellent performance in dye degradation for MoS2/MMT.

Difference in the preparation of two-dimensional nanosheets of montmorillonite from different regions: Role of the layer charge density

Lele Zhong et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the exfoliation performance of montmorillonite decreases as its layer charge density increases, leading to a more negative zeta potential and stronger binding forces between the layers.

Exfoliation of montmorillonite using a simple and low-cost heating/gasifying method

Renjie Liu et al.

Summary: By using a simple and low-cost heating/gasifying method, montmorillonite (MMT) can be successfully exfoliated, with the best results achieved at a heating temperature of 100 degrees Celsius and under three gasification cycles. This method shows great potential for large-scale production of exfoliated MMT nanosheets as additives for ceramic substrates and membrane technology.
