Design of industrial wastewater demulsifier by HLD-NAC model

Hassan Ghasemi et al.

Summary: The study utilized the hydrophilic-lipophilic deviation (HLD) model to optimize the selection of demulsifiers for effective separation of oil-in-water emulsion systems with different water-oil ratios. By calculating oil and surfactant parameters and using the NAC framework, the phase behavior of synthetic microemulsion systems was predicted, validating the correlation between predicted geometries and demulsification behavior. The impact of sec-butanol on both synthetic and real systems was also examined to provide insights on alcohol effects for non-equal WOR.

The Oscillatory Spinning Drop Technique. An Innovative Method to Measure Dilational Interfacial Rheological Properties of Brine-Crude Oil Systems in the Presence of Asphaltenes

Ronald Marquez et al.

Summary: The oscillatory spinning drop method is an accurate technique to measure dilational interfacial rheological properties, particularly in low interfacial tension systems like surfactant-oil-water three-phase behavior. This method allows studying the characteristics and properties of water/oil interfaces with different system complexities. Using this method can help make precise measurements in a reasonable amount of time, especially in systems with long equilibration times or formulated with demulsifiers associated with low interfacial tension.
