Hierarchical polyion complex vesicles from PAMAM dendrimers

Chendan Li et al.

Summary: Hierarchical dendrimer-based polyion complex (PIC) vesicles with multiple compartments were successfully prepared by combining amine-terminated dendrimer polyamidoamine (PAMAM) with polyion-neutral diblock copolymer poly (styrene sulphonate-b-ethylene oxide) (PSS-b-PEO). The strong charge interaction between the building blocks allowed for stable and well-defined vesicles that could accommodate dendrimers of different generations. This study demonstrates the importance of manipulating charge interactions for controlling dendrimer packing and the formation of PIC vesicles.

Green fluorescent carbon dots from chitosan as selective and sensitive off-on probes for nitrite and on-off-on probes for enrofloxacin detection

Jiyao Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, green emission fluorescence carbon dots (G-CDs) were prepared using chitosan and p-phenylenediamine as precursors. The prepared G-CDs showed selective and sensitive quenching of fluorescence by Nitrite (NO2-) due to internal filtration effect (IFE). Additionally, the fluorescence of G-CDs was quenched by Au3+ through fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect caused by in-situ formed Au nanoparticles (AuNPs). The G-CDs/AuNPs system showed on-off and on detection of enrofloxacin (Enr) with good selectivity, sensitivity, visibility, wide linear range, and low limit of detection.

Light-Emitting Conjugated Organic Polymer as an Efficient Fluorescent Probe for Cu2+ Ions Detection and Cell Imaging

Yuwei Zhang et al.

Summary: LCOP-1, a type of light-emitting conjugated organic polymer with abundant butyl groups, effectively reduces the H-aggregation effect, enhances luminescence activity, and exhibits high sensitivity, selectivity, and fast response in detecting Cu2+ ions within 1 minute with a detection limit down to nanomolar levels. Additionally, the sensor can visually change color from pale-yellow to yellowish-brown when detecting Cu2+ ions, and it can detect the ions in cells without causing cytotoxicity, showcasing great potential in biological applications.
