Clinical signs, symptoms, perceptions, and impact on quality of life in patients suffering from peri-implant diseases: a university-representative cross-sectional study

Mario Romandini et al.

Summary: The study found that most peri-implant diseases are asymptomatic and often go unnoticed by patients. While unable to accurately differentiate between peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis, probing pocket depth and mucosal dehiscence were the only clinical signs associated with pre-peri-implantitis/peri-implantitis.

A New Definition of Attached Gingiva Around Teeth and Implants in Healthy and Diseased Sites

Dennis Tarnow et al.

Summary: The definition of attached gingiva (AG) needs to be revised to account for its application to healthy and diseased teeth and implants. The new definition consists of two parts: one where the biologic width is supracrestal and attached to healthy teeth or tissue-level implants, and another where the biologic width is subcrestal in cases such as infrabony defects and implants placed at or below the bone crest.
