Correlates of Sleep Duration in Early Childhood: A Systematic Review

Zhiguang Zhang et al.

Summary: This systematic review identified 116 studies with a total of 329,166 children, highlighting the potential risk of short sleep duration in young children from low-income households, single families, or having overweight parents. Promoting healthy sleep duration from an early age appears crucial.

Heritability of sleep duration and quality: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Desana Kocevska et al.

Summary: Genetic factors play a significant role in determining the variability in sleep duration and quality, with the remaining variation mainly attributed to the unique environment experienced by twins. Estimates of heritability for sleep duration vary substantially across different age groups and reporters.

Population Attributable Fractions of Modifiable Risk Factors for Nonsyndromic Orofacial Clefts: A Prospective Cohort Study From the Japan Environment and Children's Study

Yukihiro Sato et al.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the population attributable fractions (PAFs) of modifiable risk factors for nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL +/- P) and cleft palate only (CP) in Japan. Results showed that modifiable risk factors such as psychological distress, maternal smoking, abnormal BMI, and non-use of folic acid supplements had a population impact on nonsyndromic cleft lip, but not cleft palate. The findings could be useful for planning primary prevention strategies for cleft lip in the future.
