Highly Selective Catalysis at the Liquid-Liquid Interface Microregion

Yabin Zhang et al.

Summary: Liquid-liquid interfaces have the potential to regulate chemical reactions selectivity, and a strategy based on this interface was used to boost catalytic selectivity by assembling tubular catalyst particles at the inner interfacial layer, resulting in unexpectedly high selectivity for C=O hydrogenation.

A Nonoxide Catalyst System Study: Alkali Metal-Promoted Pt/AC Catalyst for Formaldehyde Oxidation at Ambient Temperature

Chunying Wang et al.

Summary: Metal oxides are commonly used as supports in noble metal-based catalysts for formaldehyde oxidation, but this study demonstrates the successful application of activated carbon, a nonoxide support, for Pt catalysts in HCHO oxidation. The addition of alkali metal Na enhances the stability of Pt species, increases Pt dispersion, and improves the activation of chemisorbed oxygen and water, leading to direct conversion of HCHO to CO2 and H2O on the Na-Pt/AC-R catalyst. This research extends the promotional effect of alkali metals on supported Pt catalysts to a nonoxide carrier system.

Sodium-Mediated Bimetallic Fe-Ni Catalyst Boosts Stable and Selective Production of Light Aromatics over HZSM-5 Zeolite

Ting Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports the use of Na-mediated bimetallic Fe-Ni catalyst simply mixed with HZSM-5 to enhance the stable and selective production of aromatics from syngas. The addition of Ni with Na substantially regulates iron carbide formation and suppresses carbon deposition, leading to increased selectivity to light alpha-olefins. The presence of Na weakens the Fe-Ni interaction, reduces electron transfer from Fe to Ni, and promotes the formation of lighter olefins, demonstrating the potential for developing stable and selective iron-based catalysts for the production of FT products.

Elucidating the Effects of Mn Promotion on SiO2-Supported Na-Promoted Tungsten Oxide Catalysts for Oxidative Coupling of Methane (OCM)

Daniyal Kiani et al.

Summary: In the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) reactions, it was found that the Na-WO4 surface sites on SiO2 support are the catalytic active sites responsible for activating CH4 and O2, while the oligomeric MnOx surface sites and Mn-WO3 and MnWO4 nanoparticles only play a minor role.
