Characterisation of free and immobilised laccases fromGanoderma lucidum: application on bisphenol a degradation

Tatiane Brugnari et al.

Summary: The laccase from Ganoderma lucidum was successfully immobilised on MANAE-agarose, improving thermal stability and storage stability. Immobilization increased the catalytic efficiency at high substrate concentrations but decreased at low substrate concentrations. The immobilised laccase showed higher efficiency in degrading BPA and remained efficient for at least 15 cycles of reuse.

Probing the toxic interactions between bisphenol A and glutathione S-transferase Phi8 from Arabidopsis thaliana

Si-Fu Tang et al.

Summary: This study used glutathione S-transferase Phi8 as a biomarker to evaluate the hazardous oxidative effects of BPA on plants at the molecular level. The binding of BPA with AtGSTF8 led to structural changes and unfolding of AtGSTF8, resulting in decreased glutathione S-transferase activity and plant growth destruction.

Pollution characteristics and mixture risk prediction of phenolic environmental estrogens in rivers of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, China

Kai Lei et al.

Summary: Phenolic environmental estrogens (PEE) are commonly found in rivers in North China, particularly in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, with BPA, 4-t-OP, and NP detected in all river water samples. The concentrations of NP were generally higher than BPA and 4-t-OP, indicating domestic and industrial wastewater as main sources. Ecotoxicological risk assessments showed a moderate to high risk for aquatic organisms, with a potential cumulative risk of PEEs in the study area, emphasizing the importance of mixture risk assessment in the aquatic environment.
