Han Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impinging ignition characteristics of diesel engines at low temperatures and the heating effect of fuel film combustion on the wall using visualization experiments and numerical simulations. The results show that the nozzle diameter significantly affects the combustion characteristics and ignition temperature, which are important for the combustion process of automotive engines.

Surface evolution of Al-Si-Cu alloy in a high frequent pulsing oxyacetylene combustion

Lei Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the surface evolution of a piston alloy in an unsteady thermal environment. The results indicate that the surface roughness is mainly controlled by thermal stress-induced defects. Additionally, the source of aluminum in the surface-deposited carbon is confirmed to be chemical reactions between carburizing combustion and the alloy.

Experimental study on combustion and emission characteristics of diesel engine with high supercharged condition

Decan Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the combustion and emission processes of a diesel engine at different intake pressures. The results showed that as the intake pressure increased, the combustion process shifted towards diffusion and post-combustion stages, resulting in a decrease in power increment. Furthermore, a decrease in excess air coefficient led to an increase in the proportion of heat release in the post-combustion stage, but a decrease in thermal efficiency and an increase in fuel consumption rate.

Numerical study of wall-impinging ignition at different wall distances for cold start of heavy-duty diesel engine

Yaqing Bo et al.

Summary: This study systematically analyzes the effects of the distance between the cold wall and spray nozzle on the spray and ignition characteristics of diesel engines. The results showed that the cold wall has little influence on ignition when the wall distance is larger, but delays chemical reactions and causes misfires when the wall distance is smaller. Varying wall distance also changes the timing of local fuel cooling, resulting in different effects.

Numerical study on the effect of multiple injection strategies on ignition processes for low-temperature diesel spray

Yaqing Bo et al.

Summary: Multiple injection strategies can improve diesel engine startability at low temperatures. However, the complexity lies in understanding how pilot injections affect main injections, the different effects of injection strategies at low temperatures, and the interaction between pilot and main injections on mixing and ignition. The pre-injected fuel can promote the combustion of the main injection, but if mixed too late, it may inhibit the combustion process.
