A review on the use of lichens as a biomonitoring tool for environmental radioactivity

Summary: Lichens are commonly used as a biomonitoring tool to track the distribution and concentration of pollutants like metals and radioactivity in the air. However, there are limitations due to variations in how different elements are stored in lichen tissues and their chemical behavior.
