Visible light-driven g-C3N4 peroxymonosulfate activation process for carbamazepine degradation: Activation mechanism and matrix effects

Summary: The novel Cys-PANi@FAU-50 composite showed promising potential for effectively detoxifying Cr(VI)-bearing wastewaters, with an open mesoporous structure decorated with nitrogen/oxygen-containing functional groups. The adsorption behavior of Cr(VI) was well-tailored using advanced statistical physics theory, with two distinct receptor sites providing reliable microscopic and macroscopic predictions of the process. The Cr(VI) ions were adsorbed and subsequently reduced and immobilized by chelation and electrostatic interactions, showing an endothermic spontaneous process with effortless regenerability and good reusability.

Visible light photodegradation of blue basic 41 using cobalt doped ZnO: Box-Behnken optimization and DFT calculation

Summary: In this study, CoxZn1-xO catalysts were synthesized using the solution combustion method and their composition, structure, and morphology were investigated using various characterization techniques. Photocatalytic tests under visible light were conducted to evaluate the conversion of BB41 dye. The results showed that the synthesized catalysts exhibited excellent efficiency for the degradation of organic dyes under visible light, and they maintained high-performance stability after multiple cycles.

Effect of heat treatment on the photocatalytic activity of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles: towards diclofenac elimination

Summary: Alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized using a straightforward method, and the influence of various calcination temperatures on crystal structure, optical, and photocatalytic properties was investigated. Results showed that the average crystallite size increased with higher calcination temperatures, and the bandgap energy decreased correspondingly. The highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency was achieved with a sample calcinated at 300 degrees C, attributed to the presence of OH· radicals in the photocatalytic process.

Effectiveness of a novel polyaniline@Fe-ZSM-5 hybrid composite for Orange G dye removal from aqueous media: Experimental study and advanced statistical physics insights

Summary: A polyaniline@Fe-ZSM-5 composite was synthesized and successfully used as an adsorbent for the removal of Orange G dye from water. The study showed that the composite had good adsorption performance and regeneration ability, and the adsorption process followed a pseudo-second-order model. In addition, advanced statistical physics analysis revealed the variation of entropy during the adsorption process and confirmed that the adsorption was a spontaneous physical process.

Novel River Sediment@ZnO-Co nanocomposite for photocatalytic degradation and COD reduction of crystal violet under visible light

These findings contribute to the development of new composites based on modified ZnO for various applications, especially photocatalysis.

S-scheme bimetallic sulfide ZnCo2S4/g-C3N4 heterojunction for photocatalytic H2 evolution

Summary: Transition bimetallic sulfides have shown superior electrochemical characteristics compared to their parent materials, with ZnCo2S4/CN exhibiting significantly enhanced photocatalytic water splitting activity. The presence of zinc and cobalt ions in ZnCo2S4 lowered the H-2 evolution overpotential and charge recombination rate, leading to excellent H-2 release activity. Trapping experiments confirmed the S-scheme charge transfer route between ZnCo2S4 and CN, demonstrating a promising bimetallic sulfide heterojunction for enhancing H-2 evolution during water splitting.

Building {0001} and {1011} facet heterojunctions on hexagonal pyramid CdS single crystals with high photoactivity and photostability for hydrogen evolution

Summary: In this study, CdS hexagonal pyramid single crystals with co-exposed {0001} and {1011} crystal planes were prepared by the hydrothermal method, forming a type II heterojunction to enhance the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity. The CdS hexagonal pyramid exhibited high apparent quantum efficiency at 420 nm and maintained high photocatalytic activity even after a 100-hour cycle test.

Highly dispersed MoSx nanodot-modified TiO2 photocatalysts: vitamin C-mediated synthesis and improved H2 evolution activity

Summary: The study demonstrates that unsaturated S atoms on exposed edges of MoS2 are critical H-2-generation active sites, and fabricating MoSx cocatalyst with a small size can enhance its performance. By using a vitamin C-mediated method, highly dispersed MoSx nanodots with an ultrasmall size are loaded on TiO2 surface to achieve the highest H-2-evolution rate. The strategy of using a mediator for simultaneous realization of nanosized cocatalyst and improved cocatalyst-host interaction could provide alternative idea for enhancing photocatalytic H-2-generation activity.
