Process optimization of ultrasonic-assisted biodiesel production from waste cooking oil using waste chicken eggshell-derived CaO as a green heterogeneous catalyst

Arash Attari et al.

Summary: In this study, waste chicken eggshell-derived CaO particles were synthesized and used as a heterogeneous catalyst for ultrasonic-assisted biodiesel production. Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the reaction parameters, and the results showed significant effects on biodiesel yield and specific energy consumption. The optimal conditions obtained were a biodiesel yield of 98.62% and specific energy consumption of 5.01 kJ·g(-1).

A comprehensive review of physicochemical properties, production process, performance and emissions characteristics of 2nd generation biodiesel feedstock: Jatropha curcas

Digambar Singh et al.

Summary: Researches are focusing on finding alternative energy substitutes to conventional fossil fuels due to their limited reserves and negative impact on the environment and human health. Biodiesel, particularly jatropha oil, is considered one of the most promising alternatives to traditional diesel fuel. The properties and fatty acid distribution of jatropha oil play a significant role in its stability and impact on diesel engine performance and emissions.

Hydrothermal treatment of SO4/TiO2 and TiO2/CaO as heterogeneous catalysts for the conversion of Jatropha oil into biodiesel

Remi Ayu Pratika et al.

Summary: The conversion of Jatropha oil into biodiesel was conducted using SO4/TiO2 acid and TiO2/CaO base catalysts via hydrothermal treatment in an autoclave reactor. The acid catalyst was able to reduce the free fatty acid content of Jatropha oil, while the base catalyst was used for transesterification of esterified Jatropha oil into biodiesel.
