Effects of restricted feeding levels and stocking densities on water quality, growth performance, body composition and mucosal innate immunity of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fry in a biofloc system

Habib Sarsangi Aliabad et al.

Summary: The study found that compared to the CW system, BFT can improve water quality, growth performance, and immune function. Decreasing the feeding rate significantly reduces the growth performance and immunity of the biofloc group, while stocking density has a significant reverse effect on growth performance. Additionally, reducing the feeding rate increases protein, ash, and moisture contents, while significantly decreasing lipid content. High survival rates were observed, with BFT showing potential for improved water quality, growth performance, and immune function of Nile tilapia fry.

Recent progress towards the application of biofloc technology for tilapia farming

Mohammad Hossein Khanjani et al.

Summary: Water and land scarcity pose significant challenges to aquaculture, but biofloc technology offers a solution by increasing production and promoting sustainability. Tilapia, a highly adaptable species, has been successfully cultivated in biofloc conditions due to its unique characteristics. Factors such as cultivation period, size and stocking density, carbon to nitrogen ratio, and the type of carbon source used impact the growth and immune activity of tilapia in biofloc systems.

Effect of Input C/N Ratio on Bacterial Community of Water Biofloc and Shrimp Gut in a Commercial Zero-Exchange System with Intensive Production of Penaeus vannamei

Wujie Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different input C/N ratios on the bacterial community of water biofloc and shrimp gut in a commercial BFT system. The results showed that the manipulation of input C/N ratio could affect the bacterial community and nitrogen dynamics in the system.
