Effective promotion of g-C3N4 photocatalytic performance via surface oxygen vacancy and coupling with bismuth-based semiconductors towards antibiotics degradation

Farzad Hasanvandian et al.

Summary: In this research, a novel BCO/N-CN composite was synthesized by introducing a new 1D/2D structure and creating surface oxygen vacancy (V-O) to serve as an efficient electron transfer highway. The composite showed excellent catalytic performance in the photodegradation of levofloxacin (LVFX) and maintained high stability over multiple reaction cycles. This study provides new insights into improving interfacial contact between components of heterojunctions and sheds light on charge migration behavior for efficient Z-type heterojunctions.

Encapsulation of spinel CuCo2O4 hollow sphere in V2O5-decorated graphitic carbon nitride as high-efficiency double Z-type nanocomposite for levofloxacin photodegradation

Farzad Hasanvandian et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel high-efficiency double Z-type nano-photocatalyst (VO-UCN@CCO) was developed by encapsulating spinel CuCo2O4 into V2O5-decorated ultra-wrinkled graphitic carbon-nitride for the first time. The photocatalyst showed excellent performance in the photodisintegration of levofloxacin antibiotic under visible-light irradiation, with 40% loading of CCO displaying the maximum photocatalytic activity. The composite exhibited high efficiency, reusability, and achieved complete mineralization of levofloxacin after 300 minutes of reaction.
