Fabrication of novel neodymium oxide coupled mesoporous titania for effective visible light-induced photocatalyst for decomposition of Ciprofloxacin

Maha Alhaddad et al.

Summary: A novel procedure was used to construct mesoporous Nd2O3/TiO2 nanocomposites with different Nd2O3 contents. The nanocomposites showed enhanced photocatalytic ability for the degradation of ciprofloxacin compared to TiO2 nanoparticles, achieving a maximum degradation of 100% with 1.5% Nd2O3/TiO2 nanocomposite. The photocatalytic enhancement was attributed to the combination between Nd2O3 and TiO2, leading to increased formation of reactive oxygen species and improved charge carrier transportation and separation.

Visible light driven Nd2O3/Mo(S,O)3-x•0.34H2O heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants

Sleshi Fentie Tadesse et al.

Summary: The research focuses on developing low-cost and visible-light-driven metal oxide and sulfide-based photocatalysts for the degradation of organic dyes to mitigate environmental pollution. The synthesized NdMoOS nanocomposite showed excellent degradation efficiency for model organic pollutants under visible light irradiation due to the formation of heterojunction, high charge separation, and low recombination rate of photoinduced e(-)-h(+) pairs. Superoxide radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and holes were identified as major oxidative species involved in the photocatalytic degradation mechanisms of various dyes.

Boron doping induced charge transfer switching of a C3N4/ZnO photocatalyst from Z-scheme to type II to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen production

Donghyung Kim et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the switching of charge transfer mechanism from the Z-scheme to type II through simple boron doping of C3N4/ZnO. The introduction of low-electronegativity boron into C3N4 increased its Fermi level by 0.4 V, leading to a reversed band bending direction at the C3N4/ZnO junction. The resulting type II B-doped C3N4/ZnO showed a stable, drastic increase in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate, approximately 2.9 times higher than undoped C3N4/ZnO.
