Impact of the structural properties of holmium doped ZnO thin films grown by sol-gel method on their optical properties

M. Popa et al.

Summary: Poly crystalline Holmium-doped zinc oxide thin films were successfully prepared using sol-gel method. The films exhibited changes in particle size, morphology, and band gap with increasing Ho concentration, demonstrating a direct link between Ho emission and its incorporation in the ZnO matrix.

Sintering Temperature and Interphase Effects on Mechanical Properties of an Oxide Fiber-Reinforced Al2O3-SiO2 Composite Fabricated by Sol-Gel Method

Yi Wang et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional Nextel (TM) 440 fiber-reinforced Al2O3-SiO2 matrix composites were fabricated by sol-gel method with varying sintering temperatures. Interface engineering using PyC and FC interphase significantly influenced the mechanical properties of the composites. The results showed that sintering temperature, as well as the presence of PyC and FC interphase, affected the flexural strength and fracture behavior of the composites.

A novel process for the preparation of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ films with smooth surface via sol-gel method

Xingming Zhao et al.

Summary: The choice of complexing agent and sintering conditions during the preparation of Bi2212 superconducting thin films significantly impact the film quality and performance. The study found that tartaric acid can improve film quality and transport properties compared to traditional ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, and a complex ratio of 1:1 led to good epitaxial properties, high Bi2212 phase purity, and low surface roughness. Additionally, under these conditions, Bi2212 superconducting thin films exhibited higher Tc with an onset of 93.28 K.
