Microalgae-based bioactive hydrogel loaded with quorum sensing inhibitor promotes infected wound healing

Summary: A multifunctional quorum sensing (QS) inhibitor based on a bioactive hydrogel system was developed to accelerate wound healing. Chronic wound healing by controlled release of chitosan hydrogels loaded with silver nanoparticles and calendula extract

Curcumin-Loaded pH-Sensitive Biopolymer Hydrogels: Fabrication, Characterization, and Release Properties

Summary: Bioactive substance delivery vehicles prepared with natural biopolymers have attracted attention due to their favorable properties and biocompatibility. In this study, Mesona chinensis polysaccharide-chitosan composite hydrogels were fabricated through electrostatic interaction. It was found that the physicochemical properties of the hydrogels improved with an increase in chitosan concentration. The hydrogels showed good encapsulation of curcumin and prolonged its release in a simulated gastrointestinal environment.

Characteristics and biologic effects of thermosensitive quercetin-chitosan/collagen hydrogel on human periodontal ligament stem cells

This study investigated the effects of chitosan/collagen ratios on the properties of thermosensitive bGP chitosan/collagen hydrogels as delivery vehicles for quercetin, and the impact of quercetin-hydrogels on stem cell growth and viability. Optimal properties for bone tissue engineering and sustained release of natural flavonoids were achieved with the quercetin-bGP-2:1 chitosan/collagen hydrogels. Incorporating quercetin improved the bioactive microenvironment to support stem cell encapsulation.
